TestFromNotes

Privacy policy

Last updated October 4, 2026

TestFromNotes makes private study sites for families. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we keep what's needed to run your family's site, we don't sell it, and we don't show ads.

What we collect

How we use it

Only to run your family's site: to sign you in, make and show study materials, track progress, send account emails (like a welcome message or a password reset), handle billing, and keep the service safe.

AI processing

To make study guides, flashcards and questions, check typed answers, and answer tutor questions, the relevant study materials are sent to an AI service (OpenAI or Anthropic) for processing. These services process the data to return a result and, under their terms for business customers, don't use it to train their models. If you add your own AI key, your materials go to the provider you chose under your own account's terms.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. We share data only with the services that help run TestFromNotes: our hosting provider, Stripe for payments, an email delivery service for account emails, and the AI services described above. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

TestFromNotes is set up and paid for by a parent or guardian, who creates and manages each child's login. We collect only what's needed for the study site to work and don't ask children for contact information. A parent can see, change or delete their child's information at any time from their site, or by emailing us.

Keeping and deleting data

Your family's data is kept separately from every other family's. If you cancel, your site's data is kept for 90 days so you can come back, then deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner, or download your classes before you go.

Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored as hashes, and each family's data is stored separately. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if something goes wrong.

Changes and questions

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email the parent on each account before it takes effect. Questions or requests: [email protected].
